How It Works

From Order to Answers in Five Steps

Whether you’re a patient ordering directly or a healthcare provider adding mycotoxin testing to your practice, the process is the same: straightforward, fully supported, and designed to get clear results into the right hands as quickly as possible. Here’s what to expect at every stage.

01

Create Your Account

Register on the MyMycoLab portal in minutes. Patients sign up through the patient portal; healthcare providers select the clinician option during registration to access the provider portal, where you can manage patients and view results under your account.

02

Order Test Kits

Patients: Log in to your portal and click "Order a Test" from the menu. Your kit ships within 24–48 hours directly to your home/office.

Practitioners: Before ordering, add your patient to the portal by navigating to My Patients → Add a New Patient. From there, you can order a test kit to your office, ship a kit directly to your patient, or order a test on your patient's behalf. Kits ship within 24–48 hours of the order being placed

03

Get the Blood Drawn

A standard blood draw is required to collect the serum sample. Each kit includes precise instructions for the phlebotomist to follow — make sure to provide these when scheduling your appointment or setting up the draw.

Patients: You can get your blood drawn at your primary care physician's office, at AnyLabTestNow (220+ U.S. locations), through Travalab (mobile phlebotomy available in most of the U.S.), or by searching "mobile phlebotomy" in your area.

Practitioners: Blood draws can be performed in your office or you can direct patients to any of the options above. If shipping kits directly to patients, we will ensure they receive the phlebotomist instructions included in the kit.

04

Ship Your Sample

Send your completed kit back to the lab using the prepaid shipping label included* in your kit. No additional cost or separate arrangements needed, everything you need to return your sample is in the box.

* Note: Prepaid return shipping is included for the U.S. orders only. International orders are responsible for their own return shipping.

05

Receive Your Results

Results are available approximately 14 business days after the lab receives your sample. You'll get an email notification when your report is ready to view in your portal. Patient results appear under the "My Orders" tab; clinician results appear under the "My Patients" tab in the provider portal.

Each sample is processed at our high-complexity laboratory. Every result is individually validated for accuracy which is why we deliver precise, reliable results, and why the process takes the time it does.

What Happens After We Received Your Sample?

Once your serum sample arrives at our high-complexity laboratory, it goes through a precise, multi-step analytical process. Here’s what happens during the approximately 14 business days between receiving your sample and delivering your results.

Each sample is logged, verified against your order, and prepared for analysis. Samples that don't meet quality standards are flagged and you'll be contacted to arrange a redraw.

Your serum is analyzed using validated ELISA methods, a well-established approach used across clinical and research laboratories worldwide. The assay detects and measures IgG and IgE antibodies your immune system has produced in response to specific mycotoxins.

Each of the 14 mycotoxins on the panel is tested separately for both IgG and IgE antibodies which produce total 28 data points. Every analyte is individually validated for accuracy, which is why this is not a rapid screening test. It's high-complexity diagnostic testing held to the highest standard of precision.

Results go through a final quality review before being uploaded to your portal. Your report includes IgG and IgE levels for each of the 14 mycotoxins tested.

This level of rigor is what separates validated antibody testing from general screening methods. It’s also why more than 2,500 practitioners across the country rely on MyMycoLab for their patients’ mycotoxin diagnostics.

● Understanding Your Results

What Your Report Tells You

Your results report shows IgG and IgE antibody levels for each of the 14 mycotoxins on the panel, 28 individual data points from a single blood draw. Here’s what those two markers mean.

IgG Antibodies:

Past or Ongoing Exposure

IgG antibodies are the immune system’s long-term memory. When your body encounters a mycotoxin in amounts significant enough to be recognized as a threat, it produces IgG antibodies specific to that toxin. These levels can remain elevated for months to years after exposure even if the mold source has been removed from your environment. Elevated IgG tells you which mycotoxins your immune system has encountered and responded to over time.

IgE Antibodies:

Active Allergic Sensitization

IgE antibodies indicate that your immune system is actively reacting to a specific mycotoxin right now. Elevated IgE can point to current allergic sensitization and may be driving symptoms such as respiratory issues, skin reactions, or mast cell activation. IgE reactivity is particularly relevant for clinicians evaluating patients with suspected Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS) or unexplained allergic responses.

Together: The Full Picture Testing for both IgG and IgE antibodies to mycotoxins helps in determining if the exposure is ongoing or from a past exposure.

  • If the IgG antibodies to mycotoxins are positive and the IgE are low, this indicates past exposure with colonization.
  • If the IgG and IgE antibodies are both positive, this indicates ongoing exposure and the person is living or working in a mold contaminated environment.
  • If the IgG and IgE antibodies are both very low, this person’s health is not being affected by mycotoxins.

What to Do With Your Results We recommend sharing your report with a licensed healthcare provider who can evaluate your results in the context of your symptoms, history, and environment. A complimentary consultation with a MyMycoLab medical advisor is also available to help you and your provider interpret the findings.

For Patients

Create a patient account, order your test kit, and get results delivered to your secure portal. No doctor's order needed, though we recommend sharing your results with a healthcare provider to guide next steps.
